An exploration in harmony.

Megan Hayes Twing has called Massachusetts her home for over 15 years.  Although she was first introduced to clay at the age of 6 in elementary school, it wasn’t until her senior year of high school that her art teacher gave her a Work Study position in the Ceramic room...largely unused. Megan had free rein to create to her heart’s content and realized clay was her true passion.

Sculptures below are at age 6 and 17.

Megan’s studies started at Southeastern Massachusetts University with Fine Arts in Ceramics under the direction of Prof. Karon Doherty (Ceramics Sculptor.) Soon Megan moved to Tucson, AZ and over the next 16 years, continued mastering her art with some of the best clay artists in the southwestern desert. Megan developed her craft apprenticing with three esthetically different female clay artists, a mixed media artist, a three-dimensional mosaic artist and a studio potter. She developed her aesthetic through each experience and gained a richer hands-on knowledge of ceramics. Studio pottery spoke to Megan and upon her move back to New England launched her pottery business.

Megan looks forward to developing her craft through new techniques including Raku, pit-firing, and saggar firing. She also looks forward to teaching others ceramic techniques.

Outside the studio you can find Megan driving her kids to school and various activities, gardening with her husband, and gathering inspiration for her art.
